More tea vicar

I´m aware that it´s January and a lot of people have over indulged over the Christmas period and are trying to stick to a detox but I can´t resist sharing some photos of one of my favourite treats- tea and cake. Teashops are one of the many reasons why I love going home to the UK! 

Aunque estamos en enero y después del toda la comida rica de las navidades mucha gente están haciendo dieta o lo que llamamos ´detox´ pero no puedo resistir en compartir unas fotos de mis favoritos caprichos- la tarta y el te. Salones de te son unas de las muchas razones porque me encanta ir a mi tierra, el Reino Unido.

Review: Khiel´s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

One of the best investments I´ve made recently has been in skincare. A new Khiels shop opened up in the city and I wandered in one day. Within ten minutes I was having a skin test and a personalised skincare regime recommended to me which was so useful. I was given a lot of useful samples, including one for their Midnight Recovery Concentrate. After trying it out every night til it ran out, I had to buy the full size, it´s good stuff! As well as the blue glass bottle being gorgeous, it´s a 99.8% naturally-derived botanical mix, packed with essential oils and smelling faintly of lavender. It´s nice to pat a few drops of this onto my face before bed and have it sinking into my skin while I sleep. I think my skin looks more rested and fresher in the mornings now. I like it so much I bought the  Midnight Recovery Eye product too! 

Uno de las mejores inversiones que he hecho reciéntemente ha sido en productos de tratamiento de piel. Una tienda de Khiels que abrió en la cuidad y entré por curiosidad. Dentro de diez minutos estaba teniendo una prueba de piel y me hicieron un estudio de piel personalizada. Me dieron muchas muestras que incluyo uno de su Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Después de probarlo cada noche hasta que se agotó, tuve que comprarlo ¡si o si! Encima que la botella azul es super bonita, es una mezcla botánica 99.8% naturalmente-derivado llena de aceites esenciales y huele divinamente a lavanda  Me gusta poner unas gotas en mi cara antes de dormir y tenerlo absorbiendo en la piel mientras que duermo. Creo que mi piel está mas radiante y con  aspecto de estar descansada. De hecho me gusta tanto que me he comprado el producto de ojos también!

have your cake and eat it

Lately I´ve been trying to decide what type of wedding cake I´m going to have. Having looking at lots of photos online, I´ve decided- the simpler, the better. For me the more traditional wedding cakes are more elegant and appetizing. I toyed with the idea of tiers of cupcakes. They do look pretty I must admit, plus the cupcakes can be individually boxed up for the guests to take home. But a smooth, simple three-tiered white cake is just so beautiful and won´t date, and the ones with real or sugar flowers cascading down are my favourites. I think I´d like my guests to enjoy the cake in the reception, so it has not only look great but be delicious! Now I need to think about filling- chocolate, vanilla sponge, buttercream...

Últimamente  he estado intentando considerar que tipo de tarta de boda voy a tener. Después de mirar muchas fotos por Internet  he decidido que lo mas simple, lo mejor. Para mí,personalmente creo que las tartas mas tradicionales son mucho mas elegantes y apetecibles  Consideraba por un momento la idea de pisos de cupcakes. Parecen muy bonitos hay que decirlo, ademas se pueden dar a los invitados en cajitas decoradas para regalos. Pero una simple tarta de tres pisos, lisa y blanca, es tan preciosa y nunca fuera de moda, y con una cascada de flores- reales, de seda o de azúcar son mis preferidos. Quiero que mis invitados disfruten al comer la tarta durante la cena, así que no solo tiene que parecer hermoso, sino tiene que saber buenísimo  Ahora tengo que pensar en el relleno-chocolate, vainilla, mazapán...

I´m getting a bit jealous of all the lovely pictures of the snowfall in the UK, here in southern Spain we´re just getting dull skies and drizzle this weekend. I thought I´d include a post on a very pretty, wintery and romantic look- blood red lips. I think I´ve loved this look since I saw the magical Chanel no5 advert with Estella Warren stepping out into snowy Paris with her little-red-riding hood basket. There is something both sophisticated and at the same time fairy tale about the contrast of smooth white skin and deep red lips.

Tengo envidia de las fotos estoy viendo del nieve que esta cayendo ahora en el Reino Unido mientras aquí en el sur de España esta gris y con lluvia este fin de. De todos modas, quiero dedicar este post a un look super bonito, invernal y romántico los labios rojos. Me encanta este look desde que vi el anuncio de Chanel No5 con Estella Warren, cuando salio en París por un noche de nieve con su cesta de caperucita rojo. Encima de ser muy sofisticado, el contraste de piel porcelana y labios rojos intensos me recuerda de los cuentos de hadas.   

I was interested in the perfect red to compliment my fair colouring and I´d read  rave reviews of MAC´s Russian Red. It´s hailed an classic, iconic red so I tried it on in store and I loved it. Although I love their lipsticks, especially in lustre and cremesheen finish, I opted for the lipglass as I fancied the glossy richness! It´s a very luxurious, vintage red- perfect with a flick of black eyeliner on a night out.

Estaba interesada en buscar el rojo perfecto para complementar mi piel rubia y había leído buenas criticas de Russian Red de MAC. Lo probe en tienda y me encanto, el rojo clásico. Aunque suelo comprar los labiales de MAC, sobre todo en lustre y cremesheen, fui por el lipglass como quería un acabado tan brillante y jugoso! Es un producto de lujo, muy vintage Hollywood- perfecto con un toque de delinear negro en los ojos.

Get on it

Good morning! I´m up bright and early because this morning we´re going to talk cake, wedding cake, with a local cakes shop. I think the idea of planning a wedding is daunting and can be sightly overwhelming especially if you start to think about all the things your need to consider, organize and get booked. For my birthday I was given a very pretty wedding planner from Marks & Spencer. It´s in a mini ring binder style and organised into six sections with plastic wallets in the middle so you can store photcopies, business cards, or even fabric swatches to help you coordinate the wardrobe. It´s a great help as it´s somewhere to store guest lists and addresses, theres also a budget planner with a long checklist for you to be able to tick things off.  For me the most useful part is the calendar which counts down to your wedding, and tells you what you should doing each month, and you can makes notes or record what you´ve done week by week. It´s so complete! I think I´d be lost without it at this point.

¡Buenos días  Hoy me levanto temprano para ir a una pastelería local para hablar sobre las tartas de boda. Creo que la idea de preparar una boda es tan ambiciosa que me hace un poco nerviosa, sobretodo si se piensa en todas las cosas que hay que, organizar y reservar. Me han regalado un ´wedding planner´ muy bonito para mi cumpleaños, es de Marks and Spencer. Es de formato archivador, y dividido en seis secciones con una parte de plástico en el centro para guardar todos los números  cartitas o piezas de tela que te hace falta para coordinar. Es de gran ayuda! Es un lugar donde poner listas de invitados, planear el presupuesto, los direcciones, y se puede ir tachando las cositas hechas o pagadas. Para mi lo mas útil es el calendario con la cuenta atrás hasta la boda, te dice todo lo que hay que hacer cada mes, incluso se puede hacer notas y apuntar lo que has hecho semana por semana. ¡Es tan completa! Estaría perdida sin ello.

2013! It´s a new year, and it´s going to be a good one. The most exciting event for me this year will be my wedding in September, I´m finally getting married after years of wearing an engagement ring! I have a lot to prepare so I´m taking this opportunity to share my ideas and musings, and also to welcome your suggestions. I love the idea of a creative, DIY wedding, putting my own stamp on our day. So I´ve started to think about bridal make up, hair, decoration, details... All the fun bits.   

¡2013! Es un nuevo año y va a ser muy bueno! Lo mas emocionante para mi este año sera mi boda en Septiembre, ¡por fin me caso despues tantos años de llevar el anillo de compromiso! Tengo muchisimo para preparar asi que voy a aprovechar del blog para compartir mis ideas y pensamientos, y tambien animar vuestros sugerencias. Me encanta el idea de una boda creativa y DIY, en que se puede reconocer el caracter y gustos de la novia. Entonces empiezo a pensar en el maquillaje de novia, el pelo, la decoracion y los detalles....las cosas mas divertidas!
