This is my secret box with my invitations ready to be addressed and sent and a few more bits and pieces, like my home made confetti cut from an old copy of one of my favourite books, Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. There´s my something old too, a clutch from Monsoon that I´ve had for a about ten years. I´m thinking of using it on the big day as a place to keep mints, make up and tissues. I also made the tag ready to attach to the wedding card birds cage. I have another box with things for the wedding favours, and another with bridal make up! This is the part of planning I love. Have you got more any useful advice for a bride in training?

Hay tambien mi ´something old´, un clutch de la tienda Monsoon que he tenido durante unos diez años. Estoy pensando en usarlo en el día grande como un lugar para guardar las mentas y maquillaje. También hice la etiqueta listo para poner en la jaula de pajaros donde se mete las cartas. Tengo otra caja con cosas para los regalos para los invitados, y otro con maquillaje de novia! Esta es la parte de la preparativos que disfruto mas! ¿Tienes algún consejo más útil para una novia?

I like the idea of using a new perfume on your wedding day so that every time you wear it after it brings back memories of your special day. I´ve been trawling perfume shops spritzing and spraying, asking for samples, and then consequently getting home and forgetting which one was which. So after considering the ubiquitous and chic Miss Dior and Chloe, in the end I decided to go back to one I´ve always liked and always wished I had. Me encanta el idea de llevarse un perfume nuevo en el día de tu boda para que después cuando lo llevas vas recordando de tu día especial. Estaba mirando y echando perfumes por semanas en varias perfumerías y pidiendo muestras y aplicando diferentes perfumes en tiras de cartón, solo cuando llego a casa olvido cual era cual. I´ve heard that pre-wedding a lot of couples panic get caught up in planning and forget about the favours and panic buy them at the last minute, but I think its so important to say thank you to your guests for being there to share your special day and celebrate it with you. Another great thing about Valentine´s are all the offers and discounts go with it! As soon as a 20% off offer came up on the Zara Home website I whipped out my debit card in glee! Here are the spoils, four little goodies. The rather huge swan candle I posted about the other day (you might notice I like swans) was a bargain in the ´third sale´, and the picture frame and pink rose tea light holder are just things I thought would look great on my bedside table. The birdcage is little wedding idea, I´m going to decorate it a bit and convert it into a wedding cards holder. I just need some artifical flowers to entwine onto it. Meanwhile I´m using it as decoration in my flat. I think being surrounded by nice things is important. Home is where the heart is and all that. I´m curious, what decorative items do you like having in your home?
San Valentin triumfa por que las tiendas ponen muchos descuentos y ofertas! En cuanto han puesto un descuento de 20% en Zara Home, saque con alegría mi tarjeta banquaria! Aqui pongo los caprichos, cuatro cositas. La vela grande de cisne que he puesto el otro día (se nota que gustan los cisnes verdad?) era un chollo de la tercera rebajas. El marco de fotos y el flor rosa para velas son cosas me gusta tener en mi mesita de noche. El jaula de pájaros es un idea para mi boda. Pienso en usarlo como un lugar donde los invitados meten sus cartas. Voy a decorarlo, me falta poner unos flores artificiales dentro. Bueno mientras lo tengo en mi piso como decoración. Tu boda es una oportunidad para explotar tu lado romántico y por eso las bodas estilo vintage son tan irresistibles. Como estoy haciendo preparativos para mi boda me gusta mirar en google para encontrar detalles o ideas, es fascinante lo creativa y inspiradora que son la gente. Aquí os pongo unos de mis favoritos imágenes.
Here´s a question- hire a make up artist for your big day and put all your trust in their expertise or calm your nerves and do it yourself? Call me crazy but I´m going for the DIY option. I love make up, experimenting with looks, and I even find the routine of putting it on in the morning very relaxing. Everyone knows on your wedding day you have to look your most beautiful. It´s quite a task to take on but I´m going to do lots of research and try out lots of products before I decide what looks perfect. I think the most important thing is to look after your skin, drink loads of water, be well rested and glowing, my aim is to do this in the month leading up to the wedding. Easier said than done with all the preparations but I´m determined! A good base is essential, I once heard doing your make up is like putting paint on a blank canvas, that canvas has to be in good nick! I will keep using my favourite products, mostly Khiels, and I will most probably have a try of Chanel´s Soleil Identite which my friends uses and always look gorgeous and sun-kissed.
Una pregunta importante-¿usar una maquilladora profesional y poner tu confianza en el/ella o.... calmarte y hacerlo tu misma? Llámame loca pero voy a hacer la opcion DIY! Me encanta el maquillaje, experimentar con looks, incluso la rutina de pintarme la cara por las mañanas me relaja! Todo el mundo sabe que en su día de boda la novia quiere parecer mas bella que nunca. Es un gran trabajo conseguirlo sin ayuda pero voy a investigar mucho y probar nuevos productos. Creo que lo mas importante es cuidarse la piel y beber mucha agua para tener un aspecto radiante, y mi meta es hacer eso durante el mes antes de la boda. Aunque es mas fácil decirlo que hacerlo con todas las preparativos, estoy decidida! Una vez me dijeron que maquillarse la cara es como la pintura sobre un lienzo, y ese lienzo tiene que ser liso y en condiciones! Sigo con mi rutina diaria de piel, la mayoría de mis productos son de Khiel´s, y probare Chanel´s Soleil Identite, lo que usa mi amiga quien siempre tiene una cara ligeramente bronceada.
I´m becoming a big fan of Lisa Elridge, a very pretty professional British make up artist whose video tutorials are on youtube. She gives lots of great advice, including the dos and don´t´s. Her video ´summer rose bridal look´ is brilliant, as its for brides getting married in hot countries who want long-lasting make up that won´t melt off or give you a shiny face! It could well be around 35 degrees here in September for my wedding with its outdoor ceremony so any tips on shine-control are welcome! What you do think- call in the experts or do your own make up? Lately I´ve been trying to decide what type of wedding cake I´m going to have. Having looking at lots of photos online, I´ve decided- the simpler, the better. For me the more traditional wedding cakes are more elegant and appetizing. I toyed with the idea of tiers of cupcakes. They do look pretty I must admit, plus the cupcakes can be individually boxed up for the guests to take home. But a smooth, simple three-tiered white cake is just so beautiful and won´t date, and the ones with real or sugar flowers cascading down are my favourites. I think I´d like my guests to enjoy the cake in the reception, so it has not only look great but be delicious! Now I need to think about filling- chocolate, vanilla sponge, buttercream... Últimamente he estado intentando considerar que tipo de tarta de boda voy a tener. Después de mirar muchas fotos por Internet he decidido que lo mas simple, lo mejor. Para mí,personalmente creo que las tartas mas tradicionales son mucho mas elegantes y apetecibles Consideraba por un momento la idea de pisos de cupcakes. Parecen muy bonitos hay que decirlo, ademas se pueden dar a los invitados en cajitas decoradas para regalos. Pero una simple tarta de tres pisos, lisa y blanca, es tan preciosa y nunca fuera de moda, y con una cascada de flores- reales, de seda o de azúcar son mis preferidos. Quiero que mis invitados disfruten al comer la tarta durante la cena, así que no solo tiene que parecer hermoso, sino tiene que saber buenísimo Ahora tengo que pensar en el relleno-chocolate, vainilla, mazapán...

Good morning! I´m up bright and early because this morning we´re going to talk cake, wedding cake, with a local cakes shop. I think the idea of planning a wedding is daunting and can be sightly overwhelming especially if you start to think about all the things your need to consider, organize and get booked. For my birthday I was given a very pretty wedding planner from Marks & Spencer. It´s in a mini ring binder style and organised into six sections with plastic wallets in the middle so you can store photcopies, business cards, or even fabric swatches to help you coordinate the wardrobe. It´s a great help as it´s somewhere to store guest lists and addresses, theres also a budget planner with a long checklist for you to be able to tick things off. For me the most useful part is the calendar which counts down to your wedding, and tells you what you should doing each month, and you can makes notes or record what you´ve done week by week. It´s so complete! I think I´d be lost without it at this point. ¡Buenos días Hoy me levanto temprano para ir a una pastelería local para hablar sobre las tartas de boda. Creo que la idea de preparar una boda es tan ambiciosa que me hace un poco nerviosa, sobretodo si se piensa en todas las cosas que hay que, organizar y reservar. Me han regalado un ´wedding planner´ muy bonito para mi cumpleaños, es de Marks and Spencer. Es de formato archivador, y dividido en seis secciones con una parte de plástico en el centro para guardar todos los números cartitas o piezas de tela que te hace falta para coordinar. Es de gran ayuda! Es un lugar donde poner listas de invitados, planear el presupuesto, los direcciones, y se puede ir tachando las cositas hechas o pagadas. Para mi lo mas útil es el calendario con la cuenta atrás hasta la boda, te dice todo lo que hay que hacer cada mes, incluso se puede hacer notas y apuntar lo que has hecho semana por semana. ¡Es tan completa! Estaría perdida sin ello.

2013! It´s a new year, and it´s going to be a good one. The most exciting event for me this year will be my wedding in September, I´m finally getting married after years of wearing an engagement ring! I love the idea of a creative, DIY wedding, putting my own stamp on our day. So I´ve started to think about bridal make up, hair, decoration, details... All the fun bits. ¡2013!
