Notebooks

I love writing down my thoughts, making wish lists, lists of books to read, lists of the things to do, organising my weeks, and occassionally when I have a creative burst of energy, writing poems. I have accumulated lots of notebooks for this reason. Here they are! Anyone else have a bit of a collection going on? 

Me encanta escribir mis pensamientos, hacer listas de deseos, listas de libros para leer, listas de cosas para hacer, organizar mis semanas, y ocasionalmente cuando tengo un estallido de energía creativa, escribir poemas. He acumulado un montón de cuadernos por esta razón. ¡Aquí están! ¿Alguien más tiene un poco de una colección?

Surprise gifts

I got an unexpected gift from my fiance today. On a wet and dreary Tuesday morning it´s cheered me up! It´s a silver necklace with a Swarovksi crystal drop pendant. Pretty, isn´t it?

Recibí un inesperado regalo de mi novio hoy. En un martes por la mañana llovioso y triste que me ha animado! Es un collar de plata con un colgante gota de Swarovksi cristal. Bonito, ¿verdad?

San Valentin

Happy Valentine´s Day to you all. I´m delighted with my presents! I´ve got some much needed slippers from Oysho and a new Pandora charm, so those hints worked! I have to go to work later and I only finish at 10pm so we´ll celebrate instead this weekend at our favourite tapas place and have some pink cava and chocolates. I do really like Valentine´s Day, any excuse for a few presents and a bit of pampering! Do you celebrate Valentine´s? What did you get?

Tengo que ir al trabajo mas tarde, termino a las 22.00 entonces celebramos este fin de semana en nuestro favorito bar de tapas y comprar cava rose y bombones especiales. Si, a mi me gusta el San Valentin, cualquier excusa para tener regalos y mimos! ¿Vais a celebrar o no? ¿Que te han regalado?

Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world

said T´ien Yiheng and quite right too. I´ve always loved my tea, English breakfast, earl grey, lady grey, green, white, red, jasmine, rooibos, and recently I´ve tried blue oolong. We´ve always drunk earl grey in our house but I started drinking herbal infusions in my teens. Now I probably have about five cups or mugs a day. My fiance teases me for brewing three mugs at a time or having my huge mug ´pints of tea´ when I get in from work. I would like to say I sip from dainty china cups but no, I´m not that lady-like. My mum has been researching our family tree and found out that a few generations back our ancestors had a herbal remedies shop, she says maybe that´s where I get my love of tea. Anyway I was about to made an order with Teapigs, a popular UK-based tea company but I´ve discovered few health shops have popped up in Seville quite recently and I´ve stocked up on nice loose leaf teas, which smell and taste gorgeous! I do drink coffee too but I like all the health benefits in green and white tea. I think I´ll stock up in Whittards when I go back to the UK. What types of tea do you like? Where do you buy the good stuff?

´El té se bebe para olvidar el jaleo del mundo´ dijo T´ien Yiheng y lo dijo muy bien! Siempre me ha encantado el té, English breakfast, earl grey, lady grey, verde, jasmin, blanco, rojo, rooibos, y últimamente rojo azul oolong. En mi casa siempre hemos bebido earl grey pero cuando yo empecé a beber infusiones de fruta cuando era adolescente. Ahora bebo cinco tazas al día  Mi novio se ríe de mí por hacer tres tazas a la vez o hacer ´pintas de te´ en una taza gigante cuando vuelvo del trabajo. Me gustaría deciros que bebo tazitas delicadas hechas de porcelana pero supongo que no soy tan fina! Mi madre ha estado investigando sobre nuestro árbol genealogico y ha descubierto que nuestros antepasados tenían una tienda de remedios herbolarios y me dice que a lo mejor de ahí es donde viene mi amor por el té! Bueno iba a hacer un pedido con Teapigs, una empresa muy buena británica de té, pero he visto que aquí hay unas tiendas nuevas que venden té de muy buena calidad así que he aprovechado. He comprado té de hojas sueltas, huelen y saben deliciosos!  También me gusta el café pero se encuentran muchos beneficios para la salud en te verde y blanco. ¿Cual tipos de té te gusta y donde lo compras?

Volumptous delights- why I love Sophie Dahl

 With her angelic wide eyed looks, way with words, shabby chic kitchen, peaches and cream complexion and syrupy voice, you can help but be a bit bedazzled by Sophie Dahl. Shes a quintessential English rose and ex-model posh totty. I know some people are irritated by her because she´s so damn perfect, but I declare myself a fan. She likes her food and her recipe book ´Volumptuous Delights´ is so gorgeously illustrated and narrated, and the recipes are simple and wholesome. 

Con su cara angélical y ojos grandes, forma de expresarse,  cutis  de porcelana, dulce voz, y su cocina chic es difícil no estar un poco fascinada  con Sophie Dah. Es una clásica rosa inglesa y guapísima ex-modelo. Se que hay gente que no la aguanta por ser tan perfecta, pero me declaro super fan! Tiene pasión  por la comida y su libro de recetas ´Volumptuous Delights´ es precioso en su detalles y descripciones, y las recetas son nutritivas y a la vez simples.

Cath Kidston´s wild strawberry print

I´m so excited to be going back to the UK in April for week. I need to do a bit of wedding planning back home, have a nice relaxing week back in the family ´nest´ and maybe (*definitely*) do a bit of shopping! I fancy having a day in Manchester and going to the Cath Kidston shop. It´s such a cheerful, vintage, feminine and quintessentially English style. I think my fiance feels like his musculinity is under threat and hates entering their shops! I love their strawberry print bags, especially the large tote bag. I use a ´carry all´ Cath Kidston bag every day at work, its so sturdy and durable, and the floral pattern is so distinctive. I have my sights set on the wild strawberry one now in the ´day bag´ style, I think its gorgeous and just the right size. We´ll see! Do you like Cath Kidston? What have you bought there? 

Estoy muy emocionada para pensar que voy el Reino Unido en Abril por una semana. Necesito hacer unos planes de boda en mi casa allí, relajarme, hacer nuevas cosas, y al mejor (*por supuesto*) ir a las tiendas! Quiero pasar un día en Manchester y ir a la tienda grandisima de Cath Kidston. Son tiendas tan alegres, femeninas, con el clásico estilo ingles prototipo. Me encanta sus bolsos del estampada de fresas, especialmente el bolso grande de hombro. Uso un bolso de Cath Kidston cada día para llevar todos los libros a mi trabajo. Ha sido una buena compra por que es tan durable, y el diseño es muy bonito y floreado. Bueno, ahora tengo fichado su bolso de las fresas, lo veo precioso, y de tamaña ideal. Birthday presents

I blogged a few days ago about turning thirty and how it makes you re-think about how you look and your attitude to looking after yourself. One great thing about this milestone of a birthday is you get great presents!! Mine included my Michael Kors watch, new additions to my Pandora bracelet and some lovely Swarovski earrings. I love my jewellery as you can see! I´m so grateful (*soppy mode on*) to my wonderful family, fiance and friends. 

Hace unos días escribí sobre cumplirse treinta años pero lo bueno de llegar a tener treinta añazos es que te regalan cosas maravillosas! Mis regalos han incluido este reloj de Michael Kors, unas adiciones a mi pulsera de Pandora y unos pendientes de Swarovski! Estoy super agradecida a mi familia, novio y amigas, me encantan todo!

Zara Home spring arrivals

Oops, I seem to have missed out on the Zara Home sale this year, all thats left in our local shop are a few coloured plates and strange picture frames. However as always my eyes are drawn to the new collection, if you like buying things to decorate your house it´s like a candy shop! I love Zara Home´s insistence on elegance, and classic, feminine decor, everthing looks so crisp and white. I´m not a big fan of the prices though, a wee bit steep, so normally I attack the sales twice a year! This spring their new collection has a lot of coral which is one of my weaknesses, it´s a warm and flattering colour in clothes and make up, why not candles and bed sheets too?  There´s also something special I´ve seen that I have in mind, I´ll post about it soon...

Oops, parece que he perdido mi turno en las rebajas de Zara Home este enero, lo que queda en la tienda mas cercana son solo unos platos de colores y marcos que no me hacen mucha gracia. Como siempre mis ojos van a la nueva temporada. Si te gusta la decoración de hogar es como entrar en una tienda de golosinas, que bonito! Me encanta el estilo tan marcado de Zara Home, es clásico con colores suaves, femenino y elegante. Eso si pero no soy muy fan de sus precios, son un poquito caro en general, por eso ataco cuando son las rebajas! Esta primavera su nueva temporada tiene mucho del color coral, unos de mis favoritos, sea como sea, en ropa, maquillaje, ¿por que no en sabanas y velas también? También hay algo en especial que he visto de que voy a hacer un post pronto...

DIY Sunday

I´m having a very lazy, peaceful Sunday, exactly what I needed after a busy week. It´s time to collect my thoughts, catch up on TV, drink soya lattes, use my new blueberry-packed Lush facemask and curl up with my Kindle. I´ve got a big batch of home-made mulled wine ready for tonight, it had been brewing away in the slow-cooker yesterday and has made the flat smell lovely, mmm! So anyway today I´m showing you a mini DIY project I like doing, painting those square Ikea mirrors you can buy for about a pound. I´ve seen lots of ideas on the internet- people stencilling them, sticking on dried flowers, there´s so much you could do with them. I think if you do something well they could make nice, personalised gifts. What I did was to use house paint, there are pots of it in my parent´s garage. So easy to do, just putting a square of newspaper over the mirror so it doesn´t get stained with paint. I used a strip of lighter colour at the bottom and then painted on some detail with little birds, I copied illustrations from the children´s book. Obviously you need a much finer paintbrush for this part. Not perfect, a bit uneven, but I think it looks cute, do you? 

Hoy me aprovecho de un domingo de descanso y paz, lo que me faltaba después de una semana cargada. Ahora puedo ver unas series, beber latte de soja, probar mi mascarilla de cara de Lush, y leer mi Kindle. Quiero enseñaros un pequeño proyecto DIY me gusta hacer, pintar en espejos de Ikea que se puede conseguir por euro y medio. He visto muchas ideas en Internet, la gente pega flores secas y los pintan a su manera, hay muchas posibilidades. Creo que si te salen bien, se puede usar como regalos para amigos o familiares incluso. Lo que he hecho era pintar usando pintura de paredes, hay muchos latas en el garaje de la casa de mis padres! Es tan fácil, pon un poco de papel de periódico en la parte del espejo para no mancharlo. He puesto un color mas claro en la parte de debajo y he pintado el detalle con pájaros. Se puede sacar la inspiración de donde sea, yo he usado las ilustraciones de un libro de niños. Obviamente se hace esta parte con una brocha mucho mas fina. No es perfecto, un poco desigualado, pero ¿bonito, si?

Andalucia

Andalucia is a gorgeous sun-soaked region in the south of Spain,  I feel lucky to live here. If you haven´t been it´s well worth a holiday, there´s almost a bit of everything, rustic countryside, flamenco fairs, both modern and moorish architecture, tiled patios, lots of geraniums and great tapas.

Donde vivo ¡que suerte! Si no has estado, te animo venir. Aqui casi hay un poco de todo, campo rustico, ferias de flamenco y cabellos, arquitectura unica, muchos geranios y tapas buenos.

I´m aware that it´s January and a lot of people have over indulged over the Christmas period and are trying to stick to a detox but I can´t resist sharing some photos of one of my favourite treats- tea and cake. Teashops are one of the many reasons why I love going home to the UK! 

Aunque estamos en enero y después del toda la comida rica de las navidades mucha gente están haciendo dieta o lo que llamamos ´detox´ pero no puedo resistir en compartir unas fotos de mis favoritos caprichos- la tarta y el te. Salones de te son unas de las muchas razones porque me encanta ir a mi tierra, el Reino Unido.
